ABOUT COUNSELLING
Children can access these resources freely, at their own pace and explore their emotions with the counsellor. This helps them to express, reflect, and process emotions so they don’t have the difficult task of identifying or articulating complicated, inner emotions just with words.
The outcome of this could be that the child becomes more self-aware, is able to regulate their emotions and responses, has an increase in self-esteem, is able to enjoy life and relationships better, and have increased engagement with school and ultimately better learning outcomes.

Research shows that a strong alliance between the cousellor and child leads to positive change and the consistency of having weekly sessions at the same time and place strengthens this further. Parents and carers can support this by showing trust and encouragement and enabling the child to attend their sessions.
While some children may find benefits within twelve sessions, others might need longer-term engagement, sometimes lasting up to one or two years. The counsellor will contact the parents or carers every six to eight weeks for updates and if necessary, can collaborate with other professionals such as teachers, to work on strategies that can benefit the child outside of the therapy room and to aid future progress.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Respecting privacy is fundamental. Information shared in therapy is kept confidential and shared with a clinical supervisor or other relevant professionals if necessary.

Getting started:
Contact me by either filling out a referral form, sending an email or phoning directly: which ever is most comfortable for you. We can book a parent consultation to discuss your child's needs and decide on the right venue: my therapy room near Halesworth, your child's school or another suitable place, and the time your child's session will be each week.
